Totopara Lankapara

Totopara is a tribal village situated near Indo-Bhutan border at a distance of 22 km from Madarihat in West Bengal. The village is mainly inhabited by the Toto tribes. Lankapara is located 7 km ahead of Totopara on the way from Madarihat to Totopara. There are two forest bungalows on the top of the hill at Lankapara. A watchtower near Lankapara facilitates viewing of wild animals, birds and the natural beauty of the place. Titi river flows by the side of Lankapara. You can enjoy the view of a memorable sunset in the backdrop of tea gardens from the bank of the river. Deer and bison are often spotted at Lankapara.

The nearest railway station is Hasimara which is well connected to Kolkata by train. Madarihat is 12 km from Hasimara. Totopara lies at a distance of 22 km and Lankapara at a distance of 15 km from Madarihat. Hired cars are available to reach Lankapara and Totopara.

Charkhol

Charkhol is a small Lepcha village situated at a distance of 12 km from Lolegaon and 34 km from Kalimpong in West Bengal. Standing at an altitude of 3500 ft, the village is surrounded by forests of oak, pine, cypress, sal and rhododendron trees. Charkhol is a paradise for birdwatchers as well as those who love butterflies. Various species of birds like Indian robin, ashy prinia, green-backed tit, blue fronted redstart and hill myna are seen at Charkhole. Charkhole also offers its visitors an unique and mind blowing view of the snow capped peaks of the Himalayas. Apart from Mt. Kanchenjunga and its range, one can get a clear mesmerizing view of the tallest mountain in the world, Mt. Everest. The view of the lighted Kalimpong town at night from Charkhol is truly beautiful. At a distance of 1.5 km from Charkhole lies a Shiva temple in a serene and peaceful environment surrounded by oak, pine and rhododendron trees. You may also visit the nearby destinations like Kalimpong, Lolegaon and Samtahar.

Antpur

Antpur is a village in Hooghly district of West Bengal. It consists of eight smaller villages namely Tara, Bamnagar, Kumarbazar, Dharampur, Ranibazar, Anarbati, Bilara and Lohagachhi. The place hosts an array of temples. The most famous temple of Antpur is the Radhagobinda Temple with exquisite terracotta carvings on its walls. The temple is 100 ft tall with various scenes from mythology as well as everyday life depicted on small terracotta panels on the walls of the temple. The Chandi Mandap and Dol Mancha have beautifully crafted wood carvings. Beside the main temple, there are five Shiva temples which also exhibit terracotta work. Sarada Bhawan is located opposite to Radhagovindjiu Temple. The temple remains closed from 12 pm to 3 pm.

The nearest railway station is Haripal which enjoys good rail connectivity with Kolkata. Buses are plying from Haripal to Antpur. One can even reach Antpur directly by bus from Kolkata. Kolkata is well connected to other parts of the country by road, rail and air.
